What's the catch you say?<br /><br />For starters, at the time of this writing, there are only 4 hotspots: Bridgeport, Port Jefferson, Sag Harbor, and Long Beach. After only two hours of using Optimum Online Wi-Fi hotspots you will need to log in again. Similarly, if you move between hotspots or are inactive for more than twenty minutes, you will need to log in again. According to the <a href="http://www.optimumonlinewifi.com/faq.html">FAQ</a> the only way to send email would be through their own webmail. You will not be able to send mail using your regular mail client.<br /><br />Perhaps most importantly, the Wi-Fi they offer uses absolutely NO encryption. In this day and age you would think that it would not be terribly difficut to setup WPA2 Enterprise.
